Howard Robert Jones, 85, Tucker, GA, passed away November 22, 2010. He was born in Edina, MO and was preceded in death by his parents, his 2 brothers, and his daughter Linda Johnson. He is survived by his wife Gloria; sister-in-law Phyllis Yancey; daughter Carol (Bob) Milton of Sugar Hill; son Jeff (Paula) Appling, Six Mile, SC; grandchildren Julie Ann (Steve) Parrott, Lucy Appling, Yancey Appling, Gloria Brown and 3 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at Tucker First UMC Monday, November 29, visitation at 10:00, services at 11:00 with inurnment at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 2:30. During WWII, he served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill, worked for many years in Chicago for American Oil Company, and was transferred to Atlanta in 1963 where he worked for Colonial Pipeline Company until his retirement in 1984. He was an active member of Tucker First UMC, the World War II Roundtable, and the Joyful Noise Ringers handbell choir. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joyful Noise Ringers in care of Jack Jones, 3822 Dorocco Dr., Doraville, GA 30340-4325.
