Ida May Shelton Craig, age 85, of Decatur, GA went to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 25, 2018. She is survived by her son Bill (Amy) Craig of Liberty Township, OH; son Jeff Craig of Decatur, GA; daughter Denise (James) Whitaker of Lithonia, GA; eight grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Katie Schroeder of Orange, CA; brother Willard Shelton of Jonesboro, GA; many nieces and nephews. Ms. Craig was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Jeanette Hamel of Baldwyn, MS and Mary Perry of Athens, GA; brother Kenneth Shelton of Alexandria, LA.
Ms. Craig was born in Dahlonega, GA on May 28, 1932 to Will and Pearl Marshall Shelton. After both of her parents died, she and 3 of her siblings moved to the Georgia Baptist Children’s home in Hapeville, GA when she was 12. Ms. Craig graduated from Hapeville High School in 1950. She married Grover Craig in 1952. They were married for 39 years. She worked as a waitress at the Atlanta Gateway Truck Stop for 17 years and later retired from Kroger after 10 years of service. Ms. Craig loved being with people and enjoyed spending time at gatherings with family and friends.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Floral Hills Cemetery in Tucker. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 at Floral Hills Funeral home before the internment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Hapeville, GA online at www.gbchfm.org
