A resident of Avondale Estates for 60 years, she was born January 24, 1922 in Chicago, IL. Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alfred E. "Ted" Wood, her father Douglas H. Bell and her mother Annie Speirs Bell, her brothers Stuart Hagan, Walter Hagan, and her sister Ethel Grune.
She is survived by her children, Connie Wood of Dixon, NM, Teresa (Crawford) Smith of Camilla, GA, Valerie (Michael) Benoit of Atlanta, GA, Christopher (Dee Ann) Wood of Buford, GA, her brother, Kenneth (Jeanne) Bell, 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. An intelligent, creative, and gentle person with a great sense of humor, she was loved and adored by them all.
Janet was an avid reader and therefore enjoyed her years with the DeKalb County Library System. She was a member of the Avondale Woman's Club and loved to travel and garden.
Graveside service on Saturday, May 10, 2014 in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
