Janice Simpson

With heavy hearts and unwavering faith, we announce that Janice “Jan” Day Simpson bid us farewell on July 4, 2026. Our sweet, loving, and godly matriarch is now singing and praising Jesus in glory alongside the love of her life, Ed.

A celebration of Jan’s life will be held on July 15, 2026, at Floral Hills Funeral Home Chapel from 2:00-3:00. Reverend James Chapman, whom Jan dearly loved, has graciously agreed to officiate the service. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend as we celebrate a life well lived and a faith well kept.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Mae and Nathan Day; her siblings, Allene, Nathan, Richard, Mary Carol, Joyce, Robert, and Roy; her sister-in-law, and her beloved husband of 68 years, Ed Simpson.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Sexton and Lisa Lee and husband Robert; her grandchildren, Nicole Pearce, Dallas Lee, and Dillon Lee and wife Bentley; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Peyton and Parker Pearce, and Boden, Rosie, and Lottie Lee, and Sister in Law, Peggy Day.

Known affectionately as “Nana,” Jan was a kind, generous, and wonderfully talkative soul who never met a stranger. She grew up in rural West Virginia and loved sharing stories of walking through deep snow to school and making trips “into town.” After graduating from high school, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked as a telephone operator for the phone company. It was there that she met the love of her life, Ed.

Together, Jan and Ed built a beautiful life, making their home in Clarkston, Hartwell, Loganville, and Flowery Branch, Georgia. They were faithful members of Clarkston Baptist Church for many years, where Jan taught Sunday School and faithfully served the Lord. She later retired after 30 years with BellSouth (now AT&T).

Jan’s greatest joy was her family. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother who delighted in attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, school activities, and milestones. She was a wonderful cook, and her baking talent was featured in the AJC. But more than anything, she treasured her family and her personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Her unwavering faith, servant’s heart, and unconditional love left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

Jan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. Our family is grateful for the prayers, love, and support of our friends and loved ones during this time. Thank you for lifting us up to the One who faithfully carries us all.
