Janie Elizabeth Maurer, age 92, died on December 14, 2025, in Douglasville, GA. Janie was born on January 24, 1933, in Stone Mountain, GA, to parents John Fielding Maddox and Dollie Lee (Singleton) Maddox.
Janie met and married Bill Maurer in 1982, and the couple shared 6 children together. She was a loving wife and mother who adored her family dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Maurer of Mableton, GA, and her daughter, Gina Thompson of Douglasville, GA.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Melanie Hill of Birmingham, AL; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Memory Gardens, located at 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084. Interment will immediately follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends are invited to gather for a reception at the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant, 3829 Clairmont Road, Atlanta, GA 30341.
