He was born in Montserrat, British West Indies, the son of the late Joe and Margaret Fergus Martin.
John was a Respiratory Therapist who faithfully served Bellevue Hospital in New York.
He was a member of Tucker First United Methodist Church where he was a member of the COMET Sunday School Class.
John was proceeded in death by a son in addition to his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Pettigrew Smith-Martin of Tucker; his daughters, Jacqueline Martin Rivera of Kennesaw, GA and Della Martin Piselli of Potomac, MD; is stepson, Alvin R. Smith of Winston-Salem, NC; his honorary brother, Rev. Sam Francois.
Grandchildren, Jadzia Rivera, Allie Piselli, Robbie Rivera, and Raymond Piselli; Nieces and nephews.
Memorial service at Tucker First United Methodist Church on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Jim Higgins and Rev. Sam Francois officiating. Inurnment in Montserrat, British Virgin Islands.
