
Johnnie General Floyd Jr., 88, passed away into heaven on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at his home in Cumming, GA. He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Mrs.Joyce Scott Floyd; and three children: Rev. Randall Floyd (Shannon), Mr. Bradley Floyd, and Dr. Pamela Floyd Walker (Rickey), as well as three grandchildren: Nicholas Floyd, Connor Floyd and John Walker.
Johnnie served in the US Air Force as an Air Traffic Control Specialist from 1957-1961 and later transferred to the University of South Carolina. He worked in corporate business until launching and managing several of his own businesses, which he continued to run even after retirement. Johnnie and Joyce raised their family in Decatur and Tucker Georgia, serving as parent chaperones, Band and Choral Boosters, and he was the unofficial “chauffeur” and van driver to their children’s sports, events, and concerts.
As a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, he was a member and actively involved at Briarlake Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon, on many ministry committees, and was in the Encourager Men’s Bible Study and Sunday School Class.
In his “semi-retirement” years, he has been the Senior Adult Pastor at Briarlake up until his death. He enjoyed coin collecting, traveling to historical sites, bird-watching, supper club gatherings, mountain visits, and spending time with his extended family.
A memorial service is to be scheduled at Briarlake Baptist Church-details pending.
A private burial at Georgia National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
