

Konnya Kinney Bell, age 78, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, after a long and difficult battle with degenerative Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM). Born on May 10, 1947, in Albany, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andy Bell, and by her parents, Lloyd and Marguerite Kinney.
Konnya is survived by her sons, Zach Bell (Kimberly Kersey) and Nate Bell, and by her cherished grandchildren, Micah, Grayson, Sophia, and Alexis. Konnya is also survived by her brothers, Tommy Kinney (Helen) and Dr. Davis Kinney (Angel); a niece, Mary Catherine Kinney; and her nephews, Brian Kinney (Natalie), Reese Kinney (Morgan), and Jake Kinney.
A longtime resident of the Atlanta area, Konnya began her professional career with the Georgia Department of Transportation. She served as Administrative Assistant to Commissioner Tom Moreland and was honored as “Ms. D.O.T.,” representing the department at events across the state. Her interest in natural and alternative healthcare shaped the next chapter of her career, as she became a passionate advocate for the chiropractic profession. Konnya served as Executive Director of Atlanta’s first multidisciplinary MRI center and later as Provider Relations Director for the Georgia Chiropractic Association. She concluded her distinguished career as Deputy Commissioner of Safety Fire Education for the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner.
Even as her illness progressed, Konnya approached each day with grace, grit, and determination. She fiercely protected her independence and remained at home, comforted by the companionship of her loyal dog, Rinny. Her family offers heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated caregivers from Capstone Hospice and Senior Helpers, whose kindness and patience allowed Konnya to remain in the place she loved.
Konnya was a committed follower of Jesus Christ. She and Andy were longstanding members of First Baptist Church of Atlanta, attending faithfully in person for many years and later worshiping through televised services when their health required them to remain at home.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Highway N.W., Atlanta, GA 30328. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.
