As a career truck driver, he retired from AAA Cooper Transportation after 27 years. He is a United States veteran who served four years in the Marine Corps, including one year in Vietnam. He earned multiple medals during his service, including a Purple Heart. Upon his discharge from the USMC, Larry was an AmTrac crewman and held the rank of Sergeant.
Larry enjoyed yard work that entailed riding on his tractor, driving around to socialize with his neighbors on his side-by-side, watching deer while sitting on his front porch, and spending time with his family.
Larry is survived by his son, David Lee Sewell, and wife Sherron, of Chancellor, AL; daughter, Lesley Sewell Carter, and husband David of McDonough, GA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Christian Sewell, Hunter Sewell, Jonathan Sewell, Andrew Sewell, Matthew Carter, and Megan Sewell. Additionally, he is survived by his cousin, Ron Hall, and wife Lori, and family, of Hilton Head, SC.
A visitation will be held on December 29, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Floral Hills Funeral Home & Memory Gardens, located at 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084.
The committal service will follow on the same day, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm, at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, located at 3000 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084.
Larry Howard Sewell will be laid to rest at Floral Hill Memory Gardens in Tucker, Georgia.
