Mary Katherine Burton

Mary Katherine “Kitten” Cash burton passed away peacefully on August 30th, 2021, in Roswell, GA after 95 years of a full and rich life. She was born September 26, 1925 in Tucker, GA, the only child of the late Waymon W. Cash and Emma E. Williams. She lived her earlier years in and around Tucker, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church and graduated from Tucker High School. The last 50 years she lived and continued volunteering in Roswell.

Katherine married her late husband, William S. “Doc” Burton in 1944, who served in the US Navy during World War II and were married 51 years. They both spent many years volunteering for the VA hospital, working with the Voice of Democracy Program in local high Schools and Camp Safety Patrol. Kitten Continued her volunteering many years after Doc’s passing.

Katherine is survived by her 5 children, Jean Adams (the late James Jr.) of Roswell, Barbara Duncan (Walter) of Marietta, Judi Brown of Roswell, Joan Wood of Savannah, Wayne Burton of Woodstock and 7 Grandchildren, James Adams III of Woodstock, Keith Adams (Shae) of Cartersville, Kimberly Koehn (Paul) of Dahlonega, Kellie Martin (Dan) of Bainbridge, Karen Phipps (Simon) of Ellijay, Danielle Wood of Savannah, Jason Wood of Savannah. Additionally, she leaves ten great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren.

Kitten will be most remembered for the love of her family and friends, her devotion to America’s service men and women, the love for her hometown of Tucker, and the love and joy she spread throughout her life.

Graveside services for Kitten is September 3, 2021 at 11:00am at Floral Hills Memorial Garden in Tucker, Georgia. Family welcomes you to join them after the service for refreshments and visitation at Floral Hills Funeral Home.
