The funeral mass for Mary Jane Shea of Chamblee, GA will be held at 11 am Friday, June 22nd, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Chamblee. Mary Jane passed away Friday June 15th, 2018 after a battle with cancer. She was born on May 26th, 1931 in Wilkes Barre, PA, the daughter of Marie and Carl Klein, also of Wilkes Barre. She was the oldest of five children and is survived by brothers Eugene Klein of Forty Fort, PA and Carl Klein of Orange County, CA. She was preceded in death by brothers Peter Klein of Philadelphia, PA and Michael Klein of State College, PA.
Having lost her father at an early age, Mary Jane was active in the family’s funeral home business while excelling in her studies. Upon completion of high school, she graduated from Misericordia College in Dallas, PA an institute founded by the Sisters of Mercy. There she pursued her love of music, especially playing the piano, which she did for the rest of her life.
In 1961 she married John William (Jack) Shea also of Wilkes Barre. She was married to Jack for 49 years until he passed away 8 years ago, also from cancer. They had 3 children together, all 3 of which survive her. They are John (wife Amy), of Peachtree Corners, GA, William of Chamblee, GA, and Maureen Martin (husband Greg). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her precious granddaughter Tyler, whom she adored.
Mary Jane was very active in her parish at Holy Cross, where she had many friends. She also volunteered for many causes, including St Joseph’s Hospital in Sandy Springs, where she was a volunteer for 25 years. She and Jack were very active and skilled bridge players, and she continued playing up until her illness set in. Family and friends were the center of her life, and she will be greatly missed by all of us.
