

Morton Gross (known as Mort) was born on March 11, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. He and his parents moved to Miami Beach, Florida in June 1949. He graduated from High School in February 1952, and from the University of Miami in June 1957. Entered the U.S. Army in June 1957 and was discharged in May 1963. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia in October, 1961, and married Peggy Coker on 18 October 1968, who preceded him in death in November 1996. He passed the State Architectural exam and became a Registered Architect on February 1974. Mort was baptized into the Primitive Baptist Church in September 1984 and was ordained a Deacon in July 1985. He married Eloise Dukes on 28 March 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Betty Lipsky Gross and also a sister, Gail Gross. His survivors include his wife Eloise, son, Elder Philip Dukes and his wife, Janiece. Six grandchildren, Laura McCullar (Blake), Joshua Dukes (Haley), Rebekah Scott (Dakota), Samuel Dukes, Benjamin Dukes and David Dukes. Brother-in-law Bernard Kennedy and his wife, Annell Kennedy. Also several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Mort will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home & Cremation, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084. A funeral service will occur Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home & Cremation. A graveside service will be held at North Atlanta Memorial Park, 5188 Winters Chapel Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30360.
