Moses Young was born to Dennis Jenkins and Beatrice Young in Sylvania, GA on March 1, 1937. He matriculated through the Screven County School System and graduated as a member of the Central High School Class of 1960.
He spent his life in service to others and served as a Deacon at the Salem Baptist Church & Mount Olive Church on Long Island, New York. He retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator from the Town of North Hempstead, New York in 1992 and subsequently relocated with his wife to Mableton, Georgia in 1993.
Moses enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Seeing his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren mature through their various journeys in life always brought great joy to him. He was an avid sports fan, always providing words of encouragement for the underdog.
Moses was a very handy man; quick to build, fix, or put together anything he could get his hands on. He also took pleasure in reading and tinkering with his computer, as he was adamant about new technology and the importance of learning and education.
Above all else, Moses embodied the spirit of a man who made a conscious effort to live a life of faith, ever dependent on God. Even in the face of the most difficult circumstances, he always managed to find a way to praise God and give thanks for his countless blessings.
Moses had a distinct way with people that left a lasting impression. Strangers and close friends alike could feel the level of humble confidence and peace he exuded. He was a gentle, giving and kind man who left a positive impact on every individual he encountered. This world is a better place because of Moses. Many will feel his absence, but his legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of those who loved him. He will be greatly missed.
His son and youngest child, Moses Rodney Young and brothers Alex and Harry Young precede Moses in death.
His wife Elizabeth Ann Young; son Darryl Young of Chesapeake, Virginia; daughters Angela Green of Laurel, Maryland and Loretta Daniels of Lawrenceville, Georgia and sister Dolores Magnolia King of Euharlee, Georgia, survive Moses; he is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me”
