Born in 1923, Nicholas began his journey of life in Shanghai, China. His parents were from Mitilini on the island of Lesbos and immigrated to China where Nicholas, his sister and brother were born. His father passed away when Nicholas was young. Nicholas continued to live with his family, finishing college and working but turbulent times came to China. His mother and siblings immigrated to the US but Nicholas stayed in China until just before the communist takeover. When he left Shanghai, he moved to Canada to work as President of the Greek Orthodox Church. In Montreal he met his future bride and life partner Catherine Papadakis. After working in Quebec City, they took their journey to the US first in the northeast before settling in Atlanta in 1972 where they raised their three children. Nicholas was a chemical engineer and retired from WR Grace after 27 years. Before his illness, Nicholas was very active in the Atlanta Greek Orthodox community including Danaos and Agia Aikaterina Societies and also Toastmasters International. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Catherine, son Bill Argendeli, son and daughter-in-law Jim & Cindy Argendeli, daughter and son-in-law Maria & Mark Sweet, as well as precious grandchildren Walker Argendeli, Joshua Sweet, Alicia Sweet and Evangelia Argendeli.
