He was born in Habersham County the son of the late Roy N. and Wilma Elder.
Mr. Elder was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He attended Northeast Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Elder of Atlanta; his daughter, Elizabeth Elder of Atlanta; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jeff and Lea Beth Elder of Gainesville, GA; his grandsons, Joshua, Jacob, and Jonathan Elder; his sister, Doris Reeves of Cornelia; his brothers, John Elder of Sarasota, FL, Gene Elder of Dunwoody, James Elder of Cumming, and Dr. Herman Elder of Athens, GA; his several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Floral Hills Funeral Home with Dr. Brian Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
