

Peggie Sue Southall (Hood). aged 92, passed away on August 21, 2024, in Augusta, GA. Born on May 25, 1932, in Roswell, GA. Peggie dedicated her life to caring for others, both as a professional and within her family.
A graduate of Grady Nursing School in 1953, Peggie spent her career as a registered nurse. This was a role in which she
embodied compassion and professionalism. Her career spanned several prominent hospitals, including St. Mary's Catholic Hospital in San Francisco, CA, Charlotte Memorial Hospital in Charlotte, NC, and Shallowford Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Her nurturing nature was not only evident in her career, but also in her personal life. She was a loving and dedicated wife. The love she had for children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren came first in her life.
Peggie leaves behind her loving husband of 70 years, Haynes Arlon Southall, and her children, Michael A. Southall (Lynn), Deborah Lynn Smith (David), Kathryn A. Thomas (Bo). She was a proud grandmother to Tony, Jeremy (Aubrey), Billy (Caitlin), Brian (Sarah), Bobby (Jacki), Brinson (Layne), Brad (Melissa), and a great-grandmother to Landon, Noah, Charlotte, Sam, Anne, Grady, Collins, Gavin, Penelope, Graham, August, Putnam, Molly, Stelling, and Worley.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Sue Southall; her parents, William Charles Hood and Docia Elizabeth Fowler Hood; and her siblings, Joseph D. Hood, Nola Evelyn Beeland, William C. Hood, Jr., Ann Marie Gillespie, Ted M. Hood, and Sarah Joyce Bannister. She is also survived by her brother Robert L. Hood.
Peggie's legacy of care and compassion remains a beacon for her family and all who knew her. Her kindness and dedication to her loved ones will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on August 24, 2024 at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Memory Gardens, located at 3150 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA 30084. Rev. Jerry Grey will officiate the service, and Peggie's seven grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
