Peggy Jo Bailey of Cumming, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025. Peggy was born on November 23, 1938, in Anderson, South Carolina to Leslie Henry Ricketts, Sr. and Amanda Louise Ashley Ricketts. She will be remembered by her heartfelt conversations, laughter, unwavering faith and commitment to her church.
Peggy graduated from Dixie High School in Due West, South Carolina. Not long after, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she eventually met her loving husband, Roy Terrell Bailey. They shared a wonderful life together, not only working side by side, but traveling and, most of all, spending time with their children and extended families.
Peggy found her greatest joy later in life in being a grandmother, cherishing moments spent with her grandchildren. When not doting on them, she would be cheering on her favorite teams as an avid fan of college football, Braves baseball, and NASCAR. Her love for family and friends was also expressed through her delicious home cooking, especially her banana pudding and beloved pound cake.
Peggy spent her 30-year career at Our-Way Inc., in Tucker, Georgia. As a woman of faith, she had previous affiliations with both North Lanier Baptist Church in Cumming, and Waypoint Church in Cumming where she was also a member of the Joy Sunday School Class.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Roy Terrell, Jr. and Kathy Bailey (Hull, GA), Gregory Allan and Connie Bailey (Loganville, GA) and William O'Dell and Staci Bailey (Suwanee, GA). She is also survived by her sister, Sarah McClain (Newnan, GA), her grandchildren- Terrell (Christie) and Stephen (Missy) Bailey, Amber Young, Jason Shutley, Ryan, Evan, Lauren, and Owen Bailey, and her great-grandchildren, Brendon Shutley and Layla Bailey. Her memory lives on through several dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy Terrell Bailey; her parents, Leslie Henry Ricketts, Sr. and Amanda Louise Ashley Ricketts; her brothers, Walter Bradley 'W.B.' Ricketts and Leslie Henry Ricketts, Jr.; and her daughter, Rebecca Young.
In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Peggy’s love for dogs with a memorial donation to the Humane Society of Forsyth County (forsythpets.org/donate) or a charity of your choosing.
