There is a lot we can say about this strong, feisty “farm” woman. Rachel grew up in Shakerag, GA on a beautiful farm with her siblings, Perry, Wilson, Pearl, Harley and Tuney. She shared memories of the animals, smoke house and the hunt club in their beautiful attire. Her first vehicle was a Ferguson tractor with a smokestack and metal seat.
Rachel lived in a “girl” boarding home in Atlanta and met Harry Williams, her husband of 38 years who died before she was ready to be widowed. She is survived by her children, Andy and Angie, her beautiful grandchildren, Matt, Christie, Kelsey, Adam and Drew.
Rachel’s proudest moments were spent with her grandchildren, and she loved them dearly. It was a beautiful goodbye, as she spoke with each one. In addition, she is survived by her great grandchildren, Lilly, Emily, Julia and Louie. They kept her entertained and provided her with immense hugs and stories.
Her greatest friends Janna and Jeanette were travel friends through the years as they all had empty nests.
Rachel was an avid walker even one week prior to her death. She had the nickname of “Speedy” at Sheridan and met so many friends as she traversed the inside halls and outside walkway. She also served in memory care talking and assisting the residents there.
Rachel was an opinionated person, and you always knew where you were in her hierarchy of friends and family. She had a little trouble with Bingo due to this personality trait as she wanted to pick her own cards and not have them given out anonymously. That gave us a few laughs, unbeknown to her.
There are no words to thank her precious friends at Sheridan. Bo, Carlie, Susan, Rita, Nina, Sheree and so many more that added richness to her life during the years.
Rachel also dearly loved her cousins Nancy and Susan who she also traveled with extensively. It is a mystery to the family how they endured a three-week car trip out west with her.
Rachel has requested no service. She will be cremated and buried beside her husband, Harry. The family will have a gathering at a later day to share memories.
