Bobby” as he was called by his Mother and “Bob” to most all of his friends – grew up in Evansville, IN. Where as a young man honed his talents and boxed Golden Glove. Armed with only an 8th grade education ventured out to find work and wound up in flight engineering school where he studied quality control and other aspects of aircraft engineering.
At around age 17-18 Robert worked for Ford Motor Company on the assembly line making 5.00 a day. Bob actually drove the One Millionth car off of the assembly line in Detroit MI – made all of the newspapers at that time and in that day. He also worked for Lockheed Dobbins and ended his career in the Aerospace Industry. One of his proudest accomplishments was being involved in the early stages of the ejection seat for the Military – a product and program now used globally.
Robert’s biggest accomplishment and one he was most proud of was his 66 year marriage to Clydie Marie Salvadore who passed away just two and a half months prior to Robert’s passing. Bob was living out his final days in a senior living facility in Peachtree Corners, GA where he met many new friends. He had one very good friend there – his daughter-in-law Sara who watched over Bob and made sure he was involved with activities and keeping his spirits high.
Bob was 92 years young, survived by two sons : Robert Michael “Mike” and Andrew Lee “Andy”. Daughter in law Sara and grand daughter Heather.
