Shirley Louise Morrow Cobb, aged 85, of Duluth, Georgia, passed away on September 16, 2020, peacefully in her sleep. Shirley was born on May 9, 1935 in Fulton County, Georgia. She graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School in 1953. That same year, on June 14, 1953, she married William “Bill” C. Cobb, to whom she remained happily married 67 years. Shirley and Bill were active members of Kelley’s Chapel Methodist Church in Panthersville, Georgia, where Shirley sang in the choir, often as soprano soloist. Her stirring rendition of “Oh Holy Night” became an annual tradition. She also sang for weddings, ceremonies and other events. In addition to singing, she was known for her beautiful oil paintings. She was often commissioned to do portraits and landscapes. Shirley worked for Oglethorpe Power Company as the Word Processing Department Manager in the 1980’s to 1990’s.
Shirley is survived by her husband William C. Cobb, her sister Betty Crumbley, her daughters Leslie Cobb, Susan Cobb Abdellaoui, Tracey Cobb-Meyer, and grandchildren Hillary Hazard, Kelley Harris, Corey Crunk, Reed Meyer, Adam Abdellaoui and Sabrine Abdellaoui Dergal. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Cluie Morrow and Esther Honea Morrow.
A graveside service will be held for family and close friends at Kelley’s Chapel Methodist Church on Friday, September 18, 2020, at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
