

Stan was born on September 27, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Harry and Harriette Bexley. He attended Mercer University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree in 1990 then went on to earn his Juris Doctorate Law degree at Atlanta Law School in 1994.
His earliest ambition was to be a police officer. He was first hired by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy and then was hired by the Fulton County Police Department as a Police Officer. He received numerous “Officer of the Month” awards from the Chamber of Commerce for his excellent work. In 1995, he was hired by the State Board of Workers’ Compensation as an Administrative Attorney/Investigator. He was then appointed as the Director of the Enforcement Division of the State Board of Workers’ Compensation where he served until he retired in 2020.
Stan’s hobbies included gardening, planting flowers and spending time with Susan and their dogs (children), Macy and Allie. He enjoyed grilling out and hosted the best family gatherings. His most favorite time of the year was Christmas. His decorations were unmatched and truly captured the spirit of the holiday season. Stan was also a member of the Avondale church of Christ.
Stan is survived by his wife, Susan (Vaughn); his son, Robert “Rob” (Cortney) Bexley; his brother, Ken (Charlotte) Bexley and sister, Sandra (Lonnie) Bexley-Plott and two nieces, one nephew, a great niece, a great nephew; his in-laws, Andrea (Mike) Waters, Leta (Rick) Simpson, two niece-in-laws and a nephew-in-law. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harry and Harriette Bexley and a nephew.
The family will honor Stan’s life privately, as he wished.
