Tomas was an amazing man who had a simple but strong soul. He was raised in the outskirts of a small country town in Cuba. He was raised the old fashioned way with hard work and strong morals. At the young age of 14, he wanted to make something of himself and made his way out to the city of Havana where he self taught and found his way into repairing Radios and TV sets. Through his persistence and strong will, he became an RCA employee and married his lifelong love, Ana. He and Ana struggled though the Cuban revolution while raising three boys Tomas, Carlos and Jorge. He dedicated himself to provide a better life for his family and move them away from communism. To be allowed to leave, he was forced to work long hours in work camps in the fields for years in order to attain the exit visa to America. Landing in the United States after sacrificing everything, including leaving his immediate family behind, he came to Atlanta where he and Ana had their beautiful little girl Maggie. He was a person whose entire life was focused on ensuring his family could become better people. His greatest source of pride was that all 4 kids in America, graduated from college, married exceptional people and had amazing children of their own. Ana would say that his greatest happiness was seeing how his family had grown and how they had kept wishes and stayed together. He believed in family above all and his actions reflected that at all times. He was the greatest unknown comedian the world had ever had. He was always telling jokes, and sitting at the head of the table just watching his family. His favorite times included gathering around a roasted pig with friends drinking beer and telling tales from the life and times in Cuba and early days in America.
His greatest gift was his courage, his humility and his kindness. His heart was larger than anything else, and there was no person more willing to give and honor others. His legacy is his family and his eternal friendships. He spent a lifetime in both business and friendship with one person Cesar, a relationship that transcends time. Never will you find a better partnership or a better trust than among Tomas and Cesar. He is eternally remembered by; his wife Ana, sons Tomas and his wife Noni and daughter Nina; Carlos and his wife Ginny and sons Carlos (CJ) and Cameron; Jorge and his wife Gina and granddaughter Amanda and great granddaughter Hayley; Daughter Maggie and husband Jason and granddaughters Reese, Reagan, and Riley; and in Cuba by his Daughter Lourdes and granddaughter Giselle both which he missed greatly.
In the end he doesn't die, he lives on in all of us, teaching us how to be kind, how to treat each other, how to live life, laugh and love tirelessly.
