William (Bill) Heidt Cramer, III, age 85, most beloved husband, father, grandfather aka Grandy, brother and uncle went to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 17, 2018 at the Hope Center for Memory Care in Dacula, GA. Bill was born in Savannah, GA on October 9, 1933 and was the firstborn son of the late William H. Cramer, Jr. and Martha (Norton) Cramer.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Nancy; his loving children Kelly Skinner (Owen) and Scott H. Cramer (Kim Mitchell); his adoring grandchildren Benjamin, Timothy and Annabelle; his sister Catherine Hitt of Savannah; brothers Dan (Carol) Cramer of Richmond Hill, GA, Arthur (Deanna) Cramer of Bluffton, SC and Jerry (Marie) Cramer of Bluffton, SC and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years as an assistant chaplain. After that, he welcomed his next adventure by moving across the country to Tucson, Arizona where he met his soulmate, Nancy. Bill loved the Lord all his life, served as an elder and a deacon in the Presbyterian Church numerous times, taught adult Sunday School for many years and was an usher whenever called upon.
Bill became a master of many trades including Realtor, Banker, Car Salesman, Insurance Salesman and finally an Elementary school custodian! After retirement, in addition to his love of painting and travel, he eagerly took on his number one hobby…more work! He volunteered for many non-profit organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Emmaus House Soup Kitchen and Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry. He was beloved by all who knew him...a lover of God and humanity, servant hearted with an outstretched hand to anyone in need, self-taught chef, fastidious dresser, jokester, favorite play-toy for the grandchildren and a truly gentle gentleman.
A service of Thanksgiving and Celebration for the life of Bill will be held on Sunday, October 21 at 3 o’clock p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2208 Main St E, Snellville, GA 30078 with The Rev. Allison Per-Lee and The Rev. Owen Skinner officiating. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association; Westminster Presbyterian Church, Snellville GA; or Calvin Cove Adult Respite Care, Snellville, GA.
