I worked with Alan at American Airlines.  He knew how much I loved Chopin, and one day he surprised me with a portrait of Chopin he'd painted.  I have it still and treasure it, I'll never part with it.  Alan was a spectacular human being.  Talented, intelligent, utterly decent, and with enough charm for two people!  I miss him.  May he rest in peace.

Alan was truly a kind friend to me, and I will fondly remember him for that kindness. He taught me what it is to be respectful, and I will never forget that.

I, along with many of Alan's friends, will miss his quirky humor, intelligent insights on the nature and foibles of his fellow man and artistic abilities.

I was so sorry to hear about your passing.  It was a shock to me. You were a real friend and loyal.  I had not heard from you and only found out about your death when I got worried and as a last resort searched the obituaries.  I will miss you, and I wish I had found out earlier.. May you rest in peace.

Thank you Alan for being my friend.  I just heard of your death and take solace that you are no longer in pain.  You were an original!  Your wit, piano playing, and conversations were quite lively.  Plus, your art!  You had many gifts.

The news of Alan's death brought back so many memories of times together at American Airlines and moments shared with mutual friends.
I want to send my condolences to his family and let them know how much joy he brought into many people's lives.  May be rest in peace and may shared memories brings us all comfort.
