She leaves behind 7 grandchildren; Miranda Heslep, and quads, Shea III, Devan, Luly, and Susy Heslep (children of Shea and Lourdes) as well as Jeff’s girls, Allegra and Olivia Boutch. She has one surviving brother, Wallace Powell.
Allegra was an extraordinary woman; a teacher, devoted wife, a loving mother, and proud grandmother. To our entire family as well as many friends, she was so much more than this. She was our guiding light and our greatest role model.
As a teacher, Allegra had an incredible gift. She didn’t just teach lessons, she inspired hearts and minds, shaping not only her students, but all those who had the good fortune to know her. Her 4th grade classroom was a space where children felt valued and encouraged to dream. She had a way of making every student feel like they mattered, and that they could achieve anything they set their minds to. We cannot even begin to count the number of former students who have shared how much she impacted their lives, not just by teaching them math or grammar, but by believing in them. That’s just who she was.
As a wife, Mom and Dad shared a bond built on love, mutual respect, and an unshakable partnership. They were a team in every sense of the word, supporting one another through every joy and challenge. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and the kind of stability that gave us a solid foundation to grow on.
As a mother, Allegra poured her heart and soul into our family. She taught us kindness, resilience, and the importance of doing right by others. She showed us how to face life’s challenges with grace and strength. No matter how busy she was, she always made time for us, whether it was helping with homework, cheering us on at our games, or simply being there to listen. She was our safe place, our greatest supporter, and our constant source of unconditional love.
And as a grandmother, she brought an entirely new kind of magic into the world. Her grandchildren adored her, and she adored them right back. She would light up whenever they were around, always ready to read a story, play with them, or sit down for long conversations about whatever was on their minds. She had a way of making each of them feel special, and they will carry that love and memory with them forever.
Our Mom had a quiet strength and an incredible heart of gold. She taught us not just through words, but through her actions. She showed us the importance of hard work, kindness, and family. She was selfless, always putting others before herself, and her love knew no bounds.
We will miss her more than words can express; the sound of her voice, her hugs, her advice, and her presence. We know her spirit lives on in all of us through the life lessons she taught, in the love she gave, and in the way she made the world a better place for all she touched.
Thank you, Mom, for everything you gave us so freely. You were our best teacher, friend, wife, mother, and grandmother anyone could ask for. We love you and will miss you all the days of our lives. We will carry you in our hearts always and forever.
In lieu of any flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in her honor. That would be befitting and the best tribute you could do for her. She loved her dogs and cats and supported many animal charities.
