I HAVE A PAINTING of San Xavier Mission that he gave to me about 20 years ago while visiting his studio with my Mother who lived in Tucson and was a big fan of his. The painting is 12x15. Any idea what today's value of it is? Thanks. Julia Rush, Hickory, NC

I remember Al Romo from the art studios in back of Casa Molina Del Norte, Campbell Ave near the river road. I met with him frequently and knew his wife as well. I am an artist, who remembers Al Romo in wonderful ways...first as an artist ( very fine ) and then as a teacher -conversationalist on art, and art history. I think he studied with Rivera, the famous Mexican painter. We had some wonderful times. I was the artist who had his studio across the drive...for a time. Ill always cherish these memories!! My condolences for the family. I always know there is a special place for Al, a special easel, and paintbrush especially prepared in heaven, with the spirits of wisdom and kindness that was always a specialty with Al in memory.

I met this man only once and bought "Otomi Mother". I cried when I first saw the painting; I had to have it. Through the years, I've thought of this humble man often. He touched our lives with his art. God bless his family. The Guys, California

Our condolences to the family. I have a watercolor of the Virgin that Al did for my mother, his cousin, Catalina ( Dorame) Moreno when she was a young girl. It is a good memory of both of them. May your memories give you comfort

Paul, Beatrice and family, my deepest condolences, prayers and thoughts are with you. I know there are no words to help heal. Just keep your Hope in God to see your Dad again in Heaven. May his memories and love hold you and the Peace of God be with you also.

Tio, we will always remember your spirit, wisdom, and kindness throughout the years from your visits with us in San Diego and our visits with you in Tucson.

He will always be in our hearts. Our home is adorned with his works. We are blessed.

I met Al at Bell Aerosystems and we became fast friends. He gave me a water color of an American Indian child that I display in my home and cherish. He also painted a portrait of me as a gift. A quiet, gentle, humble man with so much talent - I'm proud to say I knew him. God bless him - may he rest in peace.

You rescued me from the Pima Animal Control, you were my best friend and devoted campanion for the past 2 years. How you shared your food droppings, swedish meatballs, subway, left overs. Sunday NASCAR driving. I will miss you. Rest in Peace. The Killer dog....CISCO"

Al was my co-worker at Bell Aerosystems when I first came to Tucson in 1968. I stayed in contact with him until a few years ago. He was a wonderful and talented man. May he rest in peace. May God be with his family at this time.

To the man who gave Mariachi Cobre their name. To the man who so vividly yet simply captured the spirit of the desert and its people in his art. You inspired me. That faint smile, that far away look. Thanks for the memories, Mr. Romo. Rest in peace.

I loved this man from the first time I met him, doing a story for Channel 9. Two of his watercolors hang in my living room and always will. I know he's already in Heaven, maybe discussing painting with one of the masters...
