Audrey Lorraine Dawson (Taylor) was born on March 1, 1927 in Albany, CA and passed away on June 1, 2025, in Tucson, AZ. Audrey, beloved mother to 4 children, Brian Dawson (Dick), Gary Dawson (John), Craig Dawson (Susie) and Denise Scarborough (Bob) passed away peacefully in her home (The Country Club of La Cholla) where she had lived for 15 years. After 98 years, the Lord called her home to be with Jesus. She was definitely the glue that held the family together.
She was born to Alfred and Mable Taylor and lived a fun childhood in the Albany/Berkeley area before meeting the love of her life Henry who was stationed in Alameda. After running a 3-legged race together, they knew that they were meant to be “hooked” together for life and enjoyed a 52-year marriage. After Henry landed a job with Humble Oil (Exxon), they moved east to Louisiana, and shortly after started adding children to the mix. She truly was a very devoted Mom and thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. She and Dad epitomized the true sense of a “Leave It to Beaver” home.
She was not a fan of the South, so as soon as Henry had a chance to be transferred back to the West coast, they jumped on it. Spending most of those years in Bakersfield and Westlake Village, CA. After 40 years of Henry’s employment with Exxon, they decided to spend their retirement in Tucson. They built a home in the La Cholla Hills of Fairfield neighborhood and spent 12 years sharing life with volunteering, church activities, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Once Henry passed, Audrey continued to live life, and enjoyed international and domestic traveling. She also became an avid U of A basketball fan and LOVED Bingo.
She leaves behind 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband, and a granddaughter. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the many caregivers that she had the past several years.
