Mother you were the light of my life. I did everything I could to keep you involved and engaged for as long as I could. You gave me 57 years of your life and all I wanted was one more day, just one more day. That was not to be and now I am left with emptiness and sadness that I do my best to ignore. Some days are easier than others. You said to Marjan just before you went to the hospice via the hospital for your broken hip that I hugged you quite a bit but that I wasn't very good at giving kisses. Here's a million kisses to you mother. I love you and miss you terribly!

To all Barbara Meredith's children. I met with your Mom toward the end of her
life to discuss her state of health and options for end of life care. She was alert, lucid and intelligent. I saw her as a fiercely independent and strong minded individual. She did not want to linger as an invalid dependent on others. Losing control of her way of how things should be was absolute torture for her. I know her journey was long and hard for her and for you. The work of dying and the grief and suffering are almost unbearable. I am so impressed and proud to know her and you. You all sacrificed and took care of her which is one of the hardest things to do. Barbara raised four strong minded independent and fierce children. We were raised with parents who did not believe in praising their children. I praise you for your heroic effort of sticking by her. I really value having the opportunity to meet with her. We had fun in spite of the circumstances. I appreciated her sense of humor and honesty. I hope your memories will be of all the years you had her as a healthy and vibrant women. She said the one thing she wanted was for her children to get along and love one another. It was evident that she loved all of you. "Love is all there is"  Take good care.

I loved my sweet, dear Aunt Barbara with all my heart as did Harold and our whole family. I will always remember our wonderful times together. We all loved every minute we spent with her.  She was not only my aunt, but a mom and dear friend.  I will forever miss her. Anne and Harold Rowe

Your mother was a dear to me.  I met her at the Y doing water aerobics.  We had a grand time discussing our favorite TV shows and our shared political views.  She was a very classy lady, and I loved her dearly.  I will miss her terribly.
