January 11, 1945 – September 2, 2022
Brenda Cecille Barker was born on January 11, 1945, and died of heart failure on September 2, 2022. Preceded in death by her beloved mother Clara, her father, Hervey, and siblings, Bobby, Buddy, Natalie, Bette, and Billy, she is survived by sisters Beverly Teske (Dick), Barbara Jacob (Rich), and brother Bill Barker (Laurie), as well as her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and friends at Tucson Community Connections. Brenda grew up in Benson and Coolidge but spent her adult life in Tucson. She was a fun-loving person who deeply loved her family and adored her mother. She was her mother’s constant companion until her mother passed. Brenda was an avid animal lover who had never met a pet she didn’t like. She enjoyed competing in the Special Olympics, winning several medals, and being a keen bowler. She loved playing games, above all electronic poker and Yahtzee. Brenda appreciated many different types of foods, particularly anything chocolate! Coming of age in the mid-1950s, she was a fervent Elvis fan, a passion that lasted throughout her lifetime. She loved watching movies, especially westerns, holiday films, and, of course, Elvis’ movies. Brenda will be warmly remembered for her crooked smile, infectious giggle, and affectionate nature. The family would like to express their gratitude to her caretakers at the Tucson Residence Foundation and Josh Cuffe, of the Pima County Fiduciary, for the kindness, patience, and thoughtfulness they showed both to Brenda and her family. A graveside service will be held on September 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at South Lawn Cemetery.
