Maggie met Carl at a Lucky Baseball game where their employer’s stores 737 (Maggie) vs 686 (Carl) competed. A friend Tom wanted Maggie to play on Carl’s team and she said “No.” Tom said “I’m not asking you to marry him.” Two years later they were married on April 15, 1983. Carl was now a husband and a father to Renee and Brian.
Carl was very proud and loved his children. Later he met and loved his grandchildren; Ashley, Arriana, PJ, Liam, Declan, Sadie and Addison. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren; Kelsie, Carley and Allison. They lovingly called their Grampa “G.G.”
Great-granddaughter Kelsie (Age 9) describes her G.G. “He had long hair, a goatee. He loved doing crafts, sketching and also gardening. He loved to be a doer not a watcher. He was always rearranging all the time. I loved my great-Grampa.”
Grandson Liam (Age 6) “I wish you have a great time.”
Carl really enjoyed camping on Mount Lemmon, air guitar, classic rock, the ocean, eagles, hawks and owls. He always felt one with nature. He was a man of faith, hope and love. With a spirit filled heart he made a true devotion to his Catholic faith. Carl was truly loved and respected by everyone who met him. In his sons words, Carl had “a positive impact on many”. He was helpful, a mentor, responsible, extremely hard working, caring, a loving husband, dad, grampa, G.G., uncle, brother and friend. He fought the good fight and was ready to surrender to his prolonged illness and continue his journey with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our sorrow is deep and he will be dearly missed. His love has given us the strength to continue.
We love you always Carl, Dad and G.G. You are forever missed. A special thank you to Casa De La Luz Hospice especially nurse Karen; home health aide Meagan; social worker Christy; chaplain Laszelo; his Doctors, nurses and technicians who cared for Carl. A very special thank you to our Dr. J. (Dr. Jalowsky) Carl’s Angel.
