
Carol Elaine Peterson was born on October 2, 1930, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Clarence Peterson, a plumber, and Hilda Peterson (Ebert), a homemaker and later a nurse. Carol graduated from Appleton Senior High School in 1948. On February 14, 1950, she married Norbert Schaumann. They had five children, Ginger, Linda, Connie, David, and Tim. Carol obtained a bachelor's degree with a major in French from Lawrence University and Master’s Degrees in French, counseling, and special education from the University of Wisconsin. She taught high school French for several years and later worked for Fox River Valley Food Coop. Carol enjoyed quilting, knitting, and needlepoint and was an accomplished seamstress and made many clothes for her children including dresses and coats. The family relocated to Tucson in 1984. Carol worked in data entry for Tucson Cooperative Warehouse in Tucson until she retired in 2007. Norbert died November 19, 1997.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jack. She is survived by her children Ginger Olson (Eugene) of Royal Oak, MI, Linda Birnbaum (Robert) of Mendota Heights, MN, Connie Abel (Clayton) of Monmouth, OR, Dave Schaumann, and Tim Schaumann of Tucson, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church (Faith Tabernacle Church building) 6000 South Cardinal Ave, Tucson, AZ on December 7, 2025 at 12:30 p.m.
