Charlotte Jean Perez gained her angel wings on September 9, 2021 at her home in Tucson, Arizona. She was born in Morris, Illinois in 1944, but lived in Tucson for more than 70 years. Charlotte was 76 years old when she passed. She is the mother of 8 children, Teresa, Peggy, Wendy, Ricky, Christine, Eddie, Carrie, Annette and step-daughter Renee. She was grandmother to 27 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She joins her husband, Jesus in heaven-God’s promise to us all.
Charlotte worked at Hughes Aircraft for more than 20 years. Soon after, her interests changed and for the next 20+ years she served as a foster parent with Casey Organization and Christian Family Care. Some children came back as adults to visit from time to time. At times, you could catch Charlotte at a lake fishing or shopping at Goodwill, always with a child or two in tow.
In describing Charlotte as a Nana, it is hard to put into words. She had a special outlook on life. Not one moment was spent in a selfish manner. She lived for every single one of her 27 grandchildren. She loved spending time with them. Each of the grandchildren always reflect on special moments with the turtles in the backyard and her admiring love for them. They often would comment on her famous pumpkin roll- ”No other tastes as good as Nana’s!” and “Watching movies with Nana was the best; she even liked scary movies!” She will forever be special to them for the way she loved them all.
Charlotte attended Calvary Chapel. Regulars there knew her well, as each week, she brought children with her to learn of Jesus’ love for them. When it became physically difficult for her to attend in person, Charlotte faithfully watched Calvary’s Pastor Robert on TV. She spoke often of prayer and faith and of her unwavering trust in Him.
There will be a graveside service at East Lawn Palms Cemetery in celebration of her life on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 9:00 am. followed by a gathering at Charlotte’s home 9722 E. Sellarole, 85730. All are welcome: Due to the warm weather, guests are encouraged to bring umbrellas and folding chairs. Water will be provided. Masks are optional.
If you would like to donate in remembrance of Charlotte, you can make donations to Christian Family Care (no donations are too small.)
