

He was born to G.W. Douglas Spafford and Elizabeth Merrill-Spafford on Aug 5, 1946 in Montclair, New Jersey. He grew up in New Jersey, but spending many summers in New Hampshire with grandparents, uncles and aunts fishing with his brother, Steven and his sister Carol.
Clayton joined the Air Force in March 1966 and was sent to Vietnam between 1967 & 1968. He was honorably discharged in January 1970 from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. He became the proprietor for Frontier Lamps & Shades, an antique & custom lighting craftsman
He was a good son, brother, student, soldier, husband, father, and craftsman.
He is survived by his long –time companion, Joyce Gorrell of Tucson, AZ, his brother Steven Spafford of Groton, NH, his sister Carol Spafford-Kelly and her husband Ralph Kelly of Gore,VA, his 2 sons Douglas Spafford of Tucson, AZ and Thomas Spafford of Kihei, HI, his 2 daughters Wendy Spafford of Phoenix, AZ and Kimberly Collier of Phoenix, AZ, his grand children Sarah, Christina, Amanda, Jordan, Koby, Lilliana, MJ, and Kylie, an uncle, a nephew and cousins.
