Sandra C. Chacon, aged 68, loving mother of six, and devoted wife to husband Armando Chacon, was summoned home on Wednesday July 23rd, 2025 after a valiantly strong battle with various health conditions in Phoenix, AZ. Sandy, Güera, or Gorda, as she was affectionately known, was a baby boomer, born on September 24th, 1956 in Ray, AZ. She grew up surrounded by her large, mixed family in Tucson, AZ with many brothers and sisters and various aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sandy met her husband of 45 years back in the 1970’s and married her honey bunny on December 7th, 1979. From that point on she and her husband raised their family. She was heavily influenced by her upbringing to be fiercely independent, strong willed, to love without convictions, to care for everyone, to never expect anything from anyone, and worked hard for all she had, for herself and her family. She was an amazing cook, that menudo and those tamales, are we right? She was a fantastic baker. She made so many delicious wedding and party cakes, cookies and treats, and really anything sweet. There were no tummies that could disagree. Did we mention she was very crafty? There are so many amazing creations she made. She was creative in so many ways. She was fun, the life of the party, easy going, vibrant, and always up for a good time. She was a protector, a warrior, a nurturer, a humanitarian, and a lover of life. Her altruism shone through in everything she did. She loved and loved hard. She cared and cared for all. She was generous beyond comprehension. We could all learn from her. She worried and yet held her head high. She persevered even through all her pain and never complained. She was truly winning in life. She could be stern, mouthy and down right mean at times, for good reason, but we all can’t be perfect right? Or can we? She was perfect to us. She was the person we could count on, good or bad, and she was always a shoulder to cry on and would listen to us no matter what. Sandy was truly a one in a million kind of woman, mother, wife, daughter, sister….truly a best friend. We love her deeply.
Sandy is predeceased by her parents, Francisco Chavez and Lydia Pena, her sons, Michael Burns and Victor Chacon, and a few of her siblings.
She will be profoundly missed by her surviving husband Armando, her children, Lydia, Margaret, Patricia, and Armando F., her grandchildren Selena, Arturo, Cheyenne, Iliani, Kaelana, and Jettre, her great grandchildren, Adelene and Evan, surviving siblings, nieces, nephews, friends, and her squawking feathered friend Precious, and finally her little pudgy Osito, (he’s on a diet) her most loyal dog.
When you think of our mother, allow her spirit, of all that is good, to soothe your soul, to ease your mind, to calm your heart, and allow a smile to come through for she is with each and every one of us. May she rest peacefully…until we meet again. With angst in our hearts, we immensely love and miss you.
A visitation for Conception will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Funeraria del Angel Catalina, 3435 N First Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85719. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705.
