Cruz Leyva, age 50, peacefully passed away on September 10, 2021, with his wife and two oldest children by his side.
Cruz was born January 29, 1971, in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico to Cruz and Yolanda (Veloz) Leyva.
Cruz was raised in Nogales, Sonora until the family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1988. Cruz attended Desert View High School but graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1991. He continued his education at Pima Community College and received associates degree in General Studies, Liberal Arts as well as Business.
Cruz worked at Southwest Energy Solutions, a subcontractor for Tucson Electric Power, from September 2001 until December 31, 2020. On January 1, 2021, Cruz began working for Tucson Electric Power Company as a Residential Meter Technician.
Cruz loved spending time with his family and friends. His interest included riding his Harley, watching the Yankees play baseball, barbequing at home. Some of his happiest moments included watching his kids play sports, spending time with his children and grandchildren and living his best life.
Cruz is survived by his wife of 20 years, Adriana (Lopez), daughter Brittney Leyva, son and spouse, Travis and Jessica Duran, son, Cruz Leyva, daughter, Ashlyn Leyva. As well as parents Cruz and Yolanda Leyva, sisters and their spouses, Alma Rosa Leyva, Martha Leyva & Ruben Sandoval, Ana Bertha & Armando Samaniego. Cruz is also survived by granddaughter Soie Bond and grandsons Jackson Leyva, Nicholas, David and James Duran.
We were truly blessed to be loved by him. He was a gentle giant. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
