Danie Reaves McCallum

Danie Reaves McCallum, 80 & a proud Mississippian born in Jackson in 1945, died February 21, 2026. Danie was the daughter of Thelma and Leland Reaves. She is survived by her husband, Jim, her daughter Jodi, her sons Jay and Mac, her daughters-in-law Julia and Kristin, her sister, Irma Graham, nephew Jim, and nieces Laura and Donna. She was the loving grandmother of Keira.

Danie was devoted to her family and was dedicated to Jodi’s participation in Special Olympics. The child of deaf parents, she had a long career in education at the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind. She loved travel, having traversed the length and breadth of the United States and Europe with Jim at her side. She also loved gardening (and all its challenges in the beautiful Arizona desert) and her craft club at the Saint Francis de Sales Parish. She had a life full of laughter, games, Aperol Spritzes, and (as she would say) “cutting up.” She touched lives and created joy wherever she went.

There will be a graveside service at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery on March 5 at 3PM. 5801 E Grant Rd, Tucson, AZ. There will be a Celebration of Life on April 4, with the time and location to be determined. For information, please contact Mac at [email protected].
