Darlis Jean Stoyanoff, of Waterloo Iowa & Tucson Arizona, passed away peacefully at home on November 8th, 2018. Darlis is predceded by her husband of 49 years, James Stoyanoff (passed 2000). She is survived by a large and loving family. Her children; Jamie (Chuck) Griffith, Kaleb (Kathy) Hendrickson, and Jim (MikelAnn). Darlis will also be fondly remembered by her ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren; Terra (Uriah) Bennett & their son Merrick of Tucson, AZ., Charles (Trista) Griffith of Washington D.C., Austin (Christa) Griffith & their son Maverick of Scottsdale AZ., Dena (Jon) Siress & their three sons Jeremiah, Nathanial, Isaiah, and daughter Raelynn of Tucson, AZ., and Benjamin (Meghan) Stoyanoff of Traer, Iowa. As well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great great-nieces, great great-nephews, and one great great great-niece.
Darlis was the youngest of 7 siblings (Durward Lockey, Lawton Lockey, Evonne Bee, Cloyce Lockey, Mardean Poyner, and Wendell Lockey), born to Richard & Esther Lockey of Waterloo, Iowa on September 2nd, 1930.
Darlis led a full and active life, and was an avid supporter of many charitable causes. Before moving to Tucson, she worked at Flowers by Audrey in Waterloo, Iowa and was an active booster for Chevaliers Drum and Bugle Corp. After moving to Arizona she spent many years involved in local and state politics, her community, and church. At El Camino Baptist Church she was kitchen coordinator and active in the women’s prayer group. She focused extensively on the children’s prayer groups both there and at River of Life Baptist. Darlis loved her local fireman at Rural Metro Fire #72, and in her free-time enjoyed long drives and local high-school sports.
Services will be held at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery at 5801 E Grant Rd, Tucson, AZ.
The viewing is scheduled for Friday, November 16th, 2018 at 8:30am with the burial service immediately following at 9am. The Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, November 17th, 2018 at 1pm.
