

Darrell Jay Mahurin, age 74, of Tucson, Arizona passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. Darrell was born May 23, 1947. Son of the late J.C. and Delores (Shaw) Mahurin he was born in Lexington, Oklahoma. Darrell moved from San Manuel, AZ to Tucson and graduated from Amphitheater High School. His friends called him Day Gee. He married his wife Linda in 1976 and they have one son, Michael Jay Mahurin. He was a loving, kind and generous man. Everybody liked Darrell.
He worked for Duval Mine until 1981 as a heavy equipment welder. From 1983 until 1988 he was employed by Rail Passenger Services, Inc., and was instrumental in restoring the Fair Lane which was built by Pullman in 1921 for Henry Ford. It has been returned to the Henry Ford museum in Michigan. He was also train master for the tours of the Copper Canyon in Mexico. He retired from Borderland Construction Company Inc. in 2010 after 23 years. He then returned to his love of flying as a private pilot.
Darrell is survived by his wife Linda A. Mahurin and son Michael J. Mahurin. His niece, Kimberly (Jay) Maden, Brian (Marla) Scherb and Larry (Celia) Scherb also survive him along with cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Delores Mahurin, brother Larry Lee Mahurin and sister Phyllis Ann Mahurin.
