David Scott Mark

David Scott Mark, known to his friends as Rocky, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2022, after a short illness. He was born on August 26, 1962, in Newark, New Jersey. In 1973, his family moved from New Jersey to Arizona, where he lived for the rest of his life. In 1980 he graduated from Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, after which he attended The University of Arizona, graduating in 1984 with a major in psychology. David held a Master’s in Education from The University of West Florida and taught special education to disadvantaged youth for many years. He was a veteran and served in the Navy. He loved watching sports, driving his siblings crazy, and citing arcane sports statistics off the top of his head. David is survived by his mother, Lois Mark of Phoenix, his sister, Lisa Mark of Los Altos, CA, his brother, Andrew Mark of Scottsdale, his brother-in-law, David LeVine of Los Altos, CA, his nieces, Shira Cohen of Cleveland and Leah LeVine of Los Altos, CA, one great-nephew, his best friend of over 40 years, J. Michael “Mike the Dentist” Major, and many other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The University of Arizona College of Education.
