David Earl Williams was born February 26, 1953, in Phoenix, Arizona to Earl H. and Helen L. Williams. The family lived in Sedona, where his mother's family had deep pioneer roots. After all three of the children were born, the family moved to Phoenix in 1956. They later moved to Scottsdale. He graduated from Coronado High School in 1971 and the family moved to Tucson that year. He lived in Tucson until peacefully passing into the Lord's presence on Friday, February 9, 2024, at almost 71 years of age.
David was a fourth-generation water well driller and contractor for almost 50 years, following his great grandfather, grandfather, and father's footsteps. He served several terms as District Director for Pima, Pinal, and Santa Cruz counties, and President of the Arizona Water Well Association. He drilled hundreds of private and commercial water wells in the state. He was an extremely hard worker and took pride in his knowledge of servicing the water needs of his customers. This included not just the drilling, but selling and servicing pumps, until his health prevented him from working. David also took great interest in helping foster the 4-H Livestock program for young people, when his daughter Amanda was in 4-H. He attended fairs and purchased the sale animals from young people to encourage them to keep participating and be successful. This was an example of his willingness to help someone if he could. He had a big heart. He was a sponsor for foster children in helping them get the animals, feed, the clothing they needed and training the animals to team pen, ride, and sort horses. He touched many lives. Outside of his passion for drilling he himself enjoyed riding, team penning, and sorting. He and Connie enjoyed doing this very much.
He was predeceased by his father Earl H. Williams, brother Daniel E. Williams, brother-in-law Gerald Shull, and nephew Nathan Paul Shull. He is survived by his mother Helen Williams, his wife Connie Charles Williams, son David Micah Showalter, Virginia; daughters Michelle Duchene, Virginia; and Amanda Williams, Arizona. Also, four grandchildren, Micah, Jared, Preston, and Maverick; and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Rachel Shull of Minden, Louisiana, loving nieces, and families. Also survived by mother-in-law Deanna Charles, sisters-in-law Leslie Maraner, Jenny Scott (Kevin), Gaby Cook (Brad), Kelly Draper (Chad), and Shelley Dejansen.
We will miss him tremendously, but we know there is a better land just beyond the river we call death. And there is no more pain or suffering there, where the circle will be unbroken, by and by Lord, by and by.
A visitation for David will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 East Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712, as well as a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A graveside service will follow from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & Cemetery.
