Jean was predeceased by her parents, Arthur O. Brown and Leora C. Brown, and her brothers, Reginald Brown and Herschel Brown. She was the beloved wife of the late Gordon Stevens, to whom she was married for 24 years, and the late Donald Mayers, to whom she was married for 42 years. Although Alzheimer’s disease affected her in her later years, it never took away her spirit, warmth, or the love she shared with her family. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the lasting impression she made on everyone who knew her.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Shirley DeFilippis (Gregory) of Florida and Dianna Samek, with whom she resided. She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Mayers.
Jean was a proud grandmother to David Tartaglia, Hollie Tartaglia, and Danielle Mather, and a loving great-grandmother to Rylan, Sydni, David, Jacoby, Daniel, Elias, and Henry. She is also survived by her nieces, Kelly Hacke and Stacie Hobbs.
Jean’s greatest joy was her family. Her love and memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and the many people whose lives she touched throughout the years.
Jean will be cremated, and her remains will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston, Rhode Island, at a later date.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
