

DeWayne Adam Kahler, 79, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at home in Tucson, AZ. He leaves his loving wife of 42 years, Alice (Sitte) Kahler; his daughters Sabrina Kahler, Barbara Peterson, Terry Brumfield (Cash); Granddaughter Danyelle (Norman) Kukuk; great grandchildren Emerson Kukuk and Avery Kukuk; siblings Lois Lanier, Janice Parrino, Mavis Guidice, Diana Brown, Merlyn Kahler; many extended family members and close family friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lila Miatke, Elaine Castaneda, Thelma Ford, Gerald Kahler, Arlon Kahler, Wilma Smith and Loren Kahler.
Born 7th of 13 siblings to Rufus Kahler and Clara (Friederich) Kahler, he was raised in Chadwick, IL. He started his career at Johnson Controls in Milwaukee, WI where he met and married Alice Kahler. With over 50 years of engineering experience in the electronics and ceramics industry, DeWayne was well liked and respected. He also worked for Saxonburg Ceramics in Pennsylvania, and retired from Brush Wellman in Tucson, AZ.
DeWayne developed lasting friendships with many in the neighborhood and was active in both the neighborhood watch program and a local pool league. He enjoyed a friendly rivalry over the game of horseshoes, and many early Saturday mornings you would find him hunting for treasure at local yard sales. He was passionate about refurbishing his vintage jukeboxes and enjoyed building an extensive record collection. He was always armed with a ready smile and a helping hand to anyone who knew him, and he cared deeply for his family and friends.
A visitation with family, followed by a celebration of life ceremony will be held from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at East Lawn Palms Mortuary and Cemetery. 5801 E. Grant Rd. Tucson, AZ 85712.
