Diane Kay Walling was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, cherished friend, and above all, a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. She gave her life to Christ as a young girl and never wavered in her faith. Diane lived each day with a heart rooted in Scripture, a love for her family and friends, and a deep desire to share the hope of eternal life through Christ.
Married for 60 years to Joseph Dan Walling, Diane poured her heart into her family. She was the proud mother of Mary Jo Johnson and Kimberly Ann Rising, and a beloved grandmother to Adam and Hannah Johnson. Her life was one of service—teaching Sunday school, leading Girl Scouts, volunteering at her daughters’ school, and always investing in the people she loved.
Diane also had a heart for friendship. She truly treasured her friends, keeping in touch faithfully throughout the years. She delighted in gathering for lunches, hosting beautiful luncheons at home with carefully crafted table settings, and sharing laughter, stories, and encouragement. Her hospitality was warm and thoughtful—always with a teapot on the table and love in the details.
She had a passion for cooking, music, and creating beauty in everyday moments. She found joy in trying new recipes, listening to gospel hymns and John Denver, and making her home a welcoming place. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling to places like New Orleans and Hawaii, always grateful for the experience and those she shared it with.
Her faith remained her anchor through all seasons of life, including the loss of her husband in January 2024. Diane’s walk with Christ influenced her husband’s faith and shaped her children’s lives. She read her Bible daily and shared her testimony freely, reminding others that eternal life is found in Christ alone.
Though we mourn her passing, we rejoice knowing she is now with her Savior, receiving the crown of righteousness she so faithfully pursued.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Diane will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith, love, and grace lives on in all who knew her.
