Dick was born at home in Buckhannon West Virginia to William Hartsel Riggleman and Beatrice Minnie
(DePoy) Riggleman. He was the second of nine children. Siblings included his older half-brother Charles
Kenneth Hyre, and younger Riggleman siblings: Phyllis Chlotel, Patty Ann, Billy Ray, Betty Sue, Linda Belle, Alice Marie, and Stephen Randal.
After graduation from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1951, Dick enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952.
He served his country for over 26 years, retiring as a Master Sargent (E-7) in 1978. His expertise was a
tactical aircraft mechanic, flight line crew chief, and aircraft maintenance supervisor. He was a veteran
of the Korean and Vietnam wars. After his military service he worked in Tucson as the construction supervisor for a local building company, and as your "helpful Ace hardware man"
He married Mary Ethel Blair on 3 September 1956 at Mary's childhood home in Penn Township, Butler
County PA. The marriage was performed by Mary's grandfather Reverend Thomas James Blair. His wife
Mary passed into heaven on 28 October 2001. The couple raised three children: William Paul Riggleman,
Michael John Riggleman, and Lucinda Ann (Riggleman) Makus. Being a member of the US military, he and his family seemed to be constantly on the move, living in four different states, in Germany, and on Okinawa Japan.
Dick was always good with his hands and had a knack for being able to build or repair just about anything. His hobbies included woodworking, camping, touring the country by car, working with the Boy Scouts, and spending time with his family. He was also active with his local church serving as deacon and elder with the Desert Springs Presbyterian Church in Tucson. He was a fan of country and western music with truck driving songs and cowboy ballads being his favorite.
Dick is also survived by six grandchildren: Erynn Lynn (Riggleman Guerrero, Christopher Paul Riggleman, Drew Anthony Riggleman, Dane Oneal Makus, Blair Elizabeth Makus, Brynn Isabel Makus, and his four great-grandchildren: Parker Riggleman Moore, Alphonso Vale Guerrero, Olivia Grace Guerrero, Vincent Henry Guerrero; and many nieces and nephews.
