

A Tucson Treasure
Dolores (Del) Jones passed away on July 8. 2017 at the age of 90. She was with family
and friends at the time of her peaceful passing in the Catalina Foothills. Not only has
she been called a Tucson Treasure by many, she was a treasure to her family, her
friends, her colleagues, and her community. All are saddened by her passing.
She has been referred to as a force of nature, the great connector, mentor, companion,
mom, grandmother, great grandmother, and an inspiration to all. Her 35 years of
dedicated work for the support of wellness, peace, aging, kindness, and so many more
causes and organizations, will leave a legacy to our community that will last for
decades.
Del was born on October 2, 1926, in Ridley Park, PA. She married the love of her life,
Merle Jones, on October 6, 1945, in Drexel Hill, PA. After a 71 years of marriage, Del is
survived by her husband Merle, sons Jeff, Steve, and Scott, along with 9
grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
A memorial life celebration service will be held at St. Frances in the Foothills United
Methodist Church on Saturday, July 29, at 11:00 am. The address is 4625 E River
Road in Tucson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a contribution to one of Del’s many non-profit
causes.
