Dolores grew up on orange fields while her dad maintained the properties—an upbringing that shaped her steady work ethic and grounded spirit. From an early age, she found joy in the simple, faithful companionship of animals, especially dogs. She later graduated from Amphi High School, carrying forward the determination and care for others that would define her life.
She initially worked for the Tucson Unified School District and, through years of dedicated service, eventually retired from there. In every season of her working life, Dolores was known for showing up, doing the job well, and giving of herself in ways both practical and heartfelt.
Dolores met Angel Martinez at a sock hop dance, and they later were married. Together they had Angel and Fernando, who has passed. She later met Ray Lopez and had a son, John Lopez. Throughout her life, Dolores’s love for family was constant—expressed through her presence, her devotion, and the generous way she made room for others.
A kind-hearted host at home, Dolores loved cooking and having family over for amazing get-togethers. Her care was often felt most clearly at the table, where food and togetherness spoke for her. In quieter moments, she could not be kept away from her novelas, and she also enjoyed cheering on the Diamondbacks—simple pleasures that brought her comfort and joy.
The family is thankful to Mary Jimenez for always keeping an eye on Dolores with great love and care. Her attentiveness and compassion were a meaningful gift, and it is remembered with sincere gratitude.
