Dorothy’s legacy will live on through her love, devotion, and dedication to her family of seven children. Preceded in death by her son Art, Survived by sons, Joey, wife Vivian, Ricky, Mark, Jessie, wife Linda, and daughters Donna and Anna and her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dorothy was born into an era of World War II. Times were difficult but love and perseverance was what bonded families together. A popular song was “When you wish Upon A Star” by Cliff Edwards. The hit movie was “My Little Chickadee” which starred May West and W.C. Fields. The most popular person at that time was Pablo Picaso. Times were hard and jobs and money were even harder to come by. An example was a loaf of bread was only .10 cents. A first-class stamp was only .03 cents, and astonishing gas was only .10 cents a gallon.
Truly, Dorothy’s favorite love and pastime was taking her grandchildren swimming and sitting outside on the picnic table, where she lived, working on puzzles with them and giving them snacks like Coke and candy, which was her FAVORITE too!
Her children remember Dorothy’s love for her sisters and brothers. The memories she loved of the countless gatherings with them gossiping around the table. All of them talking to each other all at once, excited to be the first to be heard, and her loving the chaotic endless talks.
Dorothy loved collecting dolls and anything having to do with Betty Boop. She loved the rain, listening to music, and dancing. She would always ask her children to drive her in the rain through Old Tucson. She loved True Crime television shows, watching Novellas and reading novels. Dorothy especially loved shopping. Even if she didn’t feel quite right, if asked “Mom do you want to go shopping”? She would perk up without hesitation and say “YES”!
Dorothy’s beauty reminded us of Elizabeth Taylor, but her true beauty showed in her eyes and her smile
for her love for her family. Betty Boop move over...here comes mom!!!
