Edward Robert Gomez Sr.
January 15, 1931 – July 22, 2018
Eddie passed away on the morning of July 22, 2018, after a long 7-month battle with declining health. He lost his wife of 62 years Helen, only a year and half ago. Rosary & Memorial Service will be: Friday, August 3, 2018 from 2:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. @ Funeraria del Angel, 7 E. University Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85705. Eddie is survived by Daughters: Jeanette Gomez (Ralph) and Roberta Wilkinson; Daughter-in-Law: Patty Ruiz-Gomez; Sons: Edward “Eddie” Gomez, Jr. and Michael “Mike” Gomez; Grandchildren: Stephanie, Adrienne, Edward, III, Tareq, Frankie and Yousef. Seven Great-Grandchildren. Eddie is survived by his Sister: Elsie Juarez, numerous nieces and nephews, and long-time friends Jesse & Arlene Chavez and Ray Moreno. Eddie was a simple, honest and hardworking man. He was never interested in “Keeping Up With the Jones’.” Eddie’s pride and joy was his family, LA Dodgers, AZ Diamond Backs and the UofA Wildcats. His primary goal was to provide a home, insurance and always have food on the table for his family. Growing up we were more fortunate than most, because my Dad was a meat and potato eating man! He did not like poultry or seafood, so that meant that my Mom had to prepare beef differently every day of the week. Eddie retired at the age of 65 after a 32-year career in the piping business. Once retired, my Mom and Dad enjoyed going to Laughlin, NV and frequently to the local Desert Diamond Casino. Frankie was the fortunate grandchild, as his Nana and Tata cared for him after school. We are sad and will miss my Dad, but are relieved that he is no longer in pain and is once again reunited with our Mother, Helen and our Grandmother Carmen. ..
