Efrain Ordonez

Efrain Ordoñez was born on July 9th, 1940 to Maria Eustolia Ordoñez in the city of Madera, Chihuahua Mexico. There he lived with his older brother Luis Ordoñez until the age of 3. Then the family moved to Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua and Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua in Efrain’s teenage years.

Efrain was born into the Seventh-Day Adventist religion, which he followed faithfully all his life. As a child, Efrain and his brother grew up taking care of the homestead with his aunts and cousins.

Efrain finished his schooling in Juarez and took many jobs. He worked as a lifeguard in Parque Borunda, an employee at the Purificadora de Santa Clara and as a bus chauffer. For most of these jobs, Efrain worked along side his brother. He was particularly fond of a job as a furniture delivery chauffer for Salina y Rocha.

At the age of 19, Efrain met a young woman at the movie theater who he bumped into and crushed her finger. That night he walked Fausta Chavez and her cousin home, which was the beginning of 60+ year love affair. Efrain and Fausta were married on April 28, 1963.

In July of 1964, Efrain and Fausta had their first daughter, Sara Ordoñez, followed by Elva Arrmida Ordoñez in 1966, both in Juarez. In 1968, Laura Estella Ordoñez was born in El Paso, Texas. In 1969, they immigrated to Los Angeles where their first son, Efrain Ordoñez Jr., was born. When they moved to Tucson, Arizona, they had their last son, Daniel Ordoñez in 1972.

Efrain made his life in Tucson for over 50 years, where he raised his children, became a grandfather and great grandfather. His house was always full of family and he would go on yearly visits to family in Mexico or around the United States. He was a deacon at his church for many years, sang with his friend Javier and never forgot to give his tithes. He became a mechanic and attended to fleets in Geronimo and Whithorn Glass. He often fixed cars and helped those in need.

Efrain is survived by Sara and Ricardo Deulofeu and family, Elva Arrmida Ordoñez and family, Laura Estella Terrazas and family and Daniel Ordoñez and family. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. May he rest in peace until the coming of Jesus Christ.

Efraín Ordóñez nació el 9 de julio de 1940, hijo de María Eustolia Ordóñez, en la ciudad de Madera, Chihuahua, México. Allí vivió con su hermano mayor, Luis Ordóñez, hasta los 3 años. Posteriormente, la familia se mudó a Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua, y a Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, durante la adolescencia de Efraín.

Efraín nació en la Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día, la cual siguió fielmente toda su vida. De niño, Efraín y su hermano crecieron cuidando la finca junto con sus tías y primos.

Efraín terminó sus estudios en Juárez y trabajó en diversos empleos. Trabajó como salvavidas en el Parque Borunda, empleado en la Purificadora de Santa Clara y como chofer de camiones. En la mayoría de estos trabajos, Efraín trabajaba junto a su hermano. Le gustaba especialmente trabajar como chofer de reparto de muebles para Salina y Rocha.

A los 19 años, Efraín conoció a una joven en el cine con la que chocó y le lastimó un dedo. Esa noche, acompañó a Fausta Chávez y a su prima a casa, lo que marcó el comienzo de una relación que duró más de 60 años. Efraín y Fausta se casaron el 28 de abril de 1963.

En julio de 1964, Efraín y Fausta tuvieron a su primera hija, Sara Ordóñez, y en 1966 a Elva Arrmida Ordóñez, ambas en Ciudad Juárez. En 1968, nació Laura Estella Ordóñez en El Paso, Texas. En 1969, emigraron a Los Ángeles, donde nació su primer hijo, Efraín Ordóñez Jr. Cuando se mudaron a Tucson, Arizona, tuvieron a su último hijo, Daniel Ordóñez, en 1972.

Efraín vivió en Tucson durante más de 50 años, donde crio a sus hijos y se convirtió en abuelo y bisabuelo. Su casa siempre estaba llena de familia y visitaba anualmente a su familia en México o en otros lugares de los Estados Unidos. Fue diácono en su iglesia durante muchos años, cantaba con su amigo Javier y nunca olvidaba dar sus diezmos. Se hizo mecánico para las companias Geronimo y Whithorn Glass. A menudo arreglaba autos y ayudaba a los necesitados.

A Efraín le sobreviven Sara y Ricardo Deulofeu y su familia, Elva Arrmida Ordóñez y su familia, Laura Estella Terrazas y su familia, y Daniel Ordóñez y su familia. Lo extrañaremos mucho y lo recordaremos con mucho amor. Que descanse en paz hasta la venida de Jesucristo.
