Liz was born on December 4th, 1944, in Los Angeles, California. As a young girl, she appeared in several films, including small roles in Ma & Pa Kettle at Waikiki, Miss Sadie Thompson starring Rita Hayworth, and the original Around the World in 80 Days. To her immediate family, she was affectionately known as “Cookie,” a nickname that captured her warmth and the joy she brought to those closest to her.
She dedicated nearly 30 years to a distinguished professional career in the aerospace and defense industry, beginning at the Convair and Pomona Divisions of General Dynamics in Southern California. In 1993, Liz relocated to Tucson, Arizona, where she continued her work with Hughes Aircraft and later Raytheon Company. She retired in 2002 as a respected Subcontracts Manager.
Liz is survived by her devoted husband, Bob, with whom she shared more than 32 wonderful years of marriage, and her loving son, Darren Strang, who also resides in Tucson. She has two grandchildren. Liz was preceded in death by her two brothers, Frank and Stan Bartilet, both of whom passed away in 2023.
In retirement, Liz embraced life to the fullest. She and Bob traveled the world together, enjoying over 30 cruises that reflected their shared love of exploration, fine dining, and quality wines. In recent years, she developed a deep interest in non-fiction reading and became an avid reader. Liz found beauty in the world around her—she loved scenic landscapes, flowers, and animals of all kinds. She also had a special appreciation for the artistry of local crafts and jewelry from the many places she visited.
Liz will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and zest for life. She touched the lives of those around her with her gentle nature and genuine care.
Following cremation, Liz will be laid to rest at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the remarkable life she lived.
